Marshall Grange Teen Ball 2010
Zemer Atik danced at the Spring Ball in Garden Valley, April 9, 2010.
This is the eighth year that local teens have held folk dance balls at the Marshall Grange in Garden Valley. While predominantly in their late teens, they ranged in age from 9 to 21. Along with the youths were a number of parents and participants from the Sacramento area folk dance community. The parents encourage folk dancing for their children because it is a fun, wholesome, educational, safe activity with no drugs or alcohol. Since the very beginning, the youths made it clear that they want to primarily do partner dances. The group has been evenly balanced between boys and girls. The girls made sure of that. Since these children are home schooled, they did not have a prom, so this dance party is their prom.

Kolo Koalition Folk Dance Party
Kolo Koalition invites you to join us for our monthly party on Sunday, February 7th from 7pm to 10pm at the YLI Hall in Sacramento. Our theme of the evening, "Once Upon a Sunday", was inspired by the fact that meeting on a Sunday is unusual for our monthly party. There was a conflict on our regular date so, in order to not miss a party, we rescheduled the event.
So please make note of this special date and time and come join us for a fun night of dancing and friends!
See you there!

The minimum donation to get a dance on the list is five dollars; any donation above $5.00 dollars increases the dance rank on the play list. The evening will open with the dances taught during the Introduction to Dance session. We will start playing the highest ranked dance at 8:00. At this time the program is full, remember pay for them at the door.
Changing a Dance's Ranking on the List.
For each dollar above five that a dance receives, a little bird will chirp for it. The more chirpers the higher the dance's ranking on the play-list. Everyone that comes to the ball will get one little bird to chirp for his or her favorite dance. If you want raise the chorus of chirping even louder, you can get all the little chirpers you want for a donation of $1.00 per bird.
